The first understanding of Glycolysis was a result of French scientist Louis Pasteur's who was recruited by the wine industry to research why wine would sometimes turn distasteful rather than fermenting into alcohol. He discovered that the glucose consumption of yeast was lower in aerobic conditions compared to aerobic.
