The biggest Ebola outbreak was in 2014/15 in West Africa and was the worst in history. There were major loss of life and socioeconomic disruption in the region.
There were two Americans at the time that was infected due to them being nurses and caring for the first person in America to have been infected with Ebola due to traveling. He passed away days later. The two nurses were isolated for a long time until they were treated.
One sick person with Ebola can infect 1 to 4 people. There are early and advanced stages of symptoms.
Ebola is a hemorrhagic disease, meaning it causes excessive bleeding. It is a blood-borne pathogen meaning infectious microbes present in the blood can cause infection.
