feb 2, 1960 - "The Wind of Change" Speech by Harold Macmillan
Description:
This was a speech given by British Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, at the beginning of 1960. He insisted that colonizing nations should not double down in the face of calls for independence from their colonized territories. He recognized that the global political climate was shifting dramatically. More specifically it was shifting in a way that would almost certainly (though in retrospect, certainly) lead to the independence of colonized territories. Ultimately, in many ways this was a warning to colonizing forces to take appropriate action, lest they end up on the wrong side of history.
