mar 18, 1766 - Declaratory Act

Description:

An act passed by British Parliament along with the repeal of the Stamp Act. It asserted that Great Britain had authority to make any law over the colonies. It was passed as a response to the Stamp Act Congress' claims that the Stamp Act was unconstitutional because they had no representation in Parliament. Through the Declaratory Act, Great Britain asserted that their power extended to the colonies as much as it did to the British Isles.
