oct 17, 2018 - Told by Ms. Starfish I have to redo all VFD drawings that Mr. Ireland made.

Description:

These are the minutes from my now weekly meetings with Natalie
She asked about my ongoing work I said my work had included trouble shooting the soft starter for compressor 1 and getting a purchase request ready for repairing the soft starter. I also stated that my Mike and I had completed drawings for the second VFD for the central section domestic water pumps. She asked if all the materials had arrived. I said that we were waiting on the enclosures for the reactors. She asked this question again during the meeting. It did not seem that she any type of understanding of the project or the parts necessary. She then asked me to show her the drawings for the domestic water system.
At approximately 2:15 PM I was told my drawings were incomplete because they did not have a title block and due to an error on the cable schedule. I was then asked to walk my boss through the drawings she did not seem to understand. I was told because the drawings had pencil marks on them I had to re do it without pencil marks, which will mean I have to essentially re do everything as much of the drawing was originally in pencil marks and pen. I asked if I was going to get cad support for this. She replied you told me you could do auto CAD. I said I needed a cad technician to get an official drawing number and the numbers I made were to be used as a reference for electricians to navigate the drawings. I was told I needed to raise my standards and that the drawings needed to be more formal. I was also told that the CAD technician was busy, but there were CAD resources at the regional office. I was under the impression that we wanted to get this system in as fast as possible and due to the lack of CAD support that is what I was able to generate while also juggling other tasks. Mike was responsible for the majority of these drawings, yet, I am the only one being told I need to raise my standards.
Around 2:50 PM
Later in the meeting I was told that I needed to demonstrate the systems that I was a subject matter expect in by walking some parts of the facility. I never claimed to be a subject matter expert, those were her words. In our last meeting she told me it was dangerous to walk the facility, but now apparently I need to walk the facility to show that I am a subject matter expert. She later said that I needed to show that I was a subject matter expert. I asked what exactly does that entail? Her phone rang and she never answered the question. I have asked this question before and never gotten any answers. After her phone conversation, which was about 5 to 10 minutes she asked what I was doing to become a COR. I said that I had registered for FCR 104 and should start taking that online course next week. She asked if I had any quality of safety concerns and I said no. We then proceeded to talk about the difference between AFCI and GFCI circuit breakers. I explained that I thought that all GFCI had to be replaced with AFCI if there was work being done on them due to a new NEC Code rule. I said 2017, but later found out this change was in 2014. My boss said that I used the word I believe instead of I know, which I suppose implies that I am not a subject matter expert. I was not aware I was to memorize the NEC code. My assignment for our next meeting is to complete the Domestic Water Central Section drawings with no pencil marks, which will require a great deal of CAD work and explain to my boss the difference between AFCIs and GFCIs.

At 3:05 PM
My boss drew a chart showing the words unconscious incompetence, conscious incompetence, conscious competence, and unconscious competence. I was told I needed to be at the conscious competence level. We also talked about
During the course of this meeting I was not given any guidance on how to become proficient in learning the following systems: unit protection, stations service, UPS/battery systems, Waste Water, Domestic Water, Emergency generators, and SCADA. Other than becoming a COR there has not been any guidance from my boss regarding becoming a subject matter expert in these other systems. I have mostly figured out the COR stuff through other resources though. I have been told the following
I cannot walk the facility as it is dangerous
I cannot focus on one thing at a time
I must be a subject matter expert in the above systems with no explanation of how to get there
I am working primarily on the waste and domestic water systems so I how am I supposed to be a subject matter expert in the other areas if I have no projects associated with them. All I have been told is you have drawings (which are inaccurate at times) and you have manuals.
