Have been working with Mike for a few months and have had none of the issues I had while I was working with Daigo. In my most recent meeting my new boss gave me paperwork showing that I must be a subject matter expert in the following:
Unit Protection
Fire Alarm System
2300/ 480 Electrical System
Batteries/UPS
Emergency Generator Systems
CO2 System Controls
Waste Water Controls
Domestic Water Controls
I must also become a COR 1.
I would also continue to support SCADA as a backup. I said to my boss that I thought I could become a subject matter expert in these topics if I took things one at a time. I am not sure if she understood what I was saying. She said that a GS-5 could do that, but that a GS-11 could not take things one at a time. How would someone who has never worked in the government before know what is expected for a GS-5? I tried to explain that I meant I just needed to focus on the most important task without distraction, but she did not seem to understand me. Also on the paperwork she gave me it said I had been working on developing plans and specifications for flowmeters and vibration monitors. I explained to my new boss that all I did for the vibration monitoring project was to copy a few drawings for new units and that I was not involved in the flow meter project at all. I was not developing specifications, estimates, or doing a PR for these projects. She told me that it was on my midterm review. I suspect that my old boss (Britt) must have gone to Daigo who lied about having me work on these projects or perhaps Britt simply wrote something down because he did not know what I was doing. Other than that the meeting went OK. New supervisor does not seem to understand what should be expected of me and nor is there any kind of path to get me up to speed as far as offering any training. My plan will be to learn each system to the best my ability with the assistance of Mike depending on what project I am working on.
