dec 25, 1776 - Battle of Trenton

Description:

In order to restore faith in the revolution, Washington planned an assault on a group of Hessian mercenaries (hired by the British) at Trenton, NJ. It was on Christmas Eve in the winter at night, so the Hessians did not expect an attack. Washington and his troops sailed across the Delaware River and ambushed the Hessians at Trenton. The Hessians surrendered, a small but decisive victory for the Americans.
