jan 1, 1521 - The Italian War
Description:
In 1521, the Italian War, between the Holy Roman Empire and France, began. The Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V, was also the king of Spain. Due to France being between Spain and the Holy Roman Empire at the time, Charles V is forced to use 15% of his military in the war. This, combined with other issues, made it so that Charles V had a very small percentage of his military to stop the spread of Lutheranism.
