King Henry VIII started the Anglican Church in 1534. He created the Anglican Church after the Pope refused to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. The main difference between the Catholic and Anglican Churches is that the Pope leads the Catholic Church, while the monarch leads the Anglican Church.
