Description:

Robert Koch announced the discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes TB. Symptoms included: loss of weight, fatigue, dry cough, low blood pressure, blood- streaked sputum, etc. There were about 20% of deaths in the 18th century, pre antibiotic era. 1 in 7 in all of history have died from TB in pre antibiotic era. TB was leading cause of death in Seattle and opened its first sanatorium in 1911.
