The Shepard's name was "Syphilis" TWO THEORIES of where syphilis came from: Columbian and Pre-Columbian time. The first documented syphilis outbreak was in 1493 and Columbus and his men contracted the disease from being in contact with people in West Indies. The men brought the disease back with them.
