jan 1, 1453 - Hundred Years War ended
Cities grew to be wealthy quite rapidly when the Hundred Years War finally ended in 1453. Merchants began to use their wealth to sponsor artists, and others followed. Soon, the number of artists grew in Northern Europe due to the quick growth and wealth of the rebirthed cities that were once in the path of destruction. These actions gave way to the start of the Renaissance in Northern Europe.
