oct 7, 1763 - Proclamation of 1763

Description:

Proclamation enacted by Britain after they won the French and Indian War that told colonists that they weren't allowed to move westwards, even though they just won that land. It was made to try to stop the Indian attacks but also to keep control of the colonies. They didn't have enough resources to have British administration in the new area. It also made it so neither the colonists nor the colonial governments to make deals with the Natives, only the British could do that. Finally, it said that only licensed traders could go west and deal with Natives.
