sep 1, 1939 - Hitler invades Poland. Hitler invades Poland using Blitzkrieg tactics (lightning tactics). Poland fought back but was quickly occupied by Germany. Later one of the biggest concentration camps to exist, Auschwitz, was built in Poland around where around 1.1 million people were killed. Two days later, France and Great Britain declared war on Germany and triggered the start of WWII. (Timeline)
