Description:
Missouri wanted to be a slave state, it would have upset the balance so main was made a free state. Created imaginary boundary between slave and free states. Created a larger divide among the country and furthered the north(anti slavery) vs south(pro slavery). The imaginary boundary eventually led to a real divide when the south eventually seceded from the Union.
