jul 30, 1777 - The leader of Tryon County's Committee of
Safety, Brigadier General Nicholas Herkimer,
learns that St. Leger's force is within a few
days march of Fort Stanwix. As result, he calls
the militia, including a group of Oneidas led by
Han Yerry and Colonel Louis.
