jan 14, 2011 - Diagnosed with Crohn's Disease (Stage 4: Industry v. Inferiority)
Description:
When I was ten years old, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. It hampered me in many ways: I was forced to lean on teachers for academic support and I shut myself off socially , relying heavily on adults for emotional support. I also struggled physically, losing 20 pounds and gaining ⅜ of an inch between my 10th and 11th birthdays. This may have led to the fact that when I feel overwhelmed, I doubt myself. I procrastinate and occasionally rely on getting extensions because I get paralyzed by my anxiety. In these periods of overbearing stress, I also isolate myself from my peers because I cannot deal with social situations.
