The quarting act started in 1765 The colonists discussed the legality of this Act because it seemed to break the Bill of Rights of 1689. British officers who had fought in the French and Indian War found it hard to get the colonial assemblies to pay for quartering and provisioning of their troops. The colonst had to be trotected against native florin chambers to troops were strained
