jun 1, 1791 - LOUIS XVI AND MARIE-ANTOINETTE FLEE PARIS
Description:
After feeling like prisoners in their own home for years, the king and queen decided it was best for them to try to escape the capital city of Paris and head north-east to the countryside town of Montmédy, where they could be escorted by Austrian officers and protected. However, their plans were ruined because they were late to the escort. by the time they got to their destination, the Austrian officers had already left and the National Assembly was warned of their plan. Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were captured and put into prison. This is where they both would say for the rest of their lives up until both of their grizzly demises.
