First case of inhalation anthrax was diagnosed in 2001. Robert Koch, a German physician and scientist was the first to identify the bacterium that caused the disease in 1875. The ancient origins of anthrax however was said to be around 700BC. The first clinical descriptions of anthrax happened in the 1700s and there are 3 types of anthrax! Gastrointestinal, Inhalation, and Skin anthrax. Anthrax is a serious infectious disease and is rare. People can get sick with anthrax if contacted with infected or contaminated animal products.
