Name means "Handyman" because they were the first creatures to make stone tools. The Homo Habilis and Australopithecus' timelines overlapped slightly. The Australopithecus' timeline ended around 1.5 million years ago, around when Homo Habilis' time on Earth ended as well. Research has shown that Homo Habilis could not create fire. They could fire if they found it and desired to do so, but they could not create it. I think that the stone tools in the picture show that all stone tools were different.
