jan 14, 1948 - 14th January 1948 Jewish settlements are attacked by Arabs en masse. However, an elaborate counter attack sees the Jews defeat the Arabs at Gush Etzion. This can be largely credited to Ben-Gurions commitment to protecting Jewish settlements despite military advice.
