feb 21, 1917 - German Planned Withdrawal

Description:

Starting on 21 February 1917, the German Army began to withdrawal to the Hindenburg Line. This maneuver was called Operation Alberich and took about five week to complete.

Some positions on the Hindenburg Line include:
- Wotan Stellung (position) stretched from the Belgian coast to Cambrai;
- Siegfried Stellung stretched from Cambrai to St Quentin;
- Alberich Stellung stretched from St. Quentin to Laon;
- Brunhilde Stellung stretched from Laon across the Champagne Front;
- Kriemhilde Stellung stretched from the Argonne Forest to Metz.
