Organized civilians sought allies in the armed forces to overthrow Ponce. so the honor guard surrounds the palace of govierno.los levels armed by the guard join the fight, the revolution trinfa and ponce resignation. a revolutionary government council is formed. which calls for elections the national renewal party is invested. The new president is Juan Jose Arevalo. His measures broaden the conditions for popular political participation.
