nov 11, 1923 - Munich Beer Hall Putsch III
Description:
Hitler is found in hiding, and is sentenced to 5 years in prison for treason. However, he only served 5 months in comfortable conditions, where he wrote his manifesto, Mein Kamp. Ludendorff was pardoned. The Munich Putsch was extremely important in making Hitler into a national hero who appeared to have the German people's best interests in mind. He was especially glorified for his speeches at his trial condemning the Republic and standing up for German people. Hitler also learnt that, in order to take control, he had to gain the army and constitutional control, i.e. he had to take control via the ballot box.
