The immigration from Scandinavia of the Vikings had a huge influence on the spoken language of the English people. It is hard to tell whether the biggest influence came from the Danes or the Norwegians because the two languages are so similar. The Vikings spoke a language called Old Norse which influenced the current Anglo-Saxon Language of the time.
