Description:
It is an international treaty whose objective is to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology, to promote cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to further the goal of achieving nuclear disarmament. The treaty was an attempt to slow down the rate of international nuclear increase, limit escalation of the ongoing Cold War arms race, and ultimately work towards complete nuclear disarmament. As well as the right to use nuclear technology peacefully, such as nuclear power.
