jan 1, 1794 - Erasmus Darwin
Description:
Believed that evolution occurred in all living things; did not know what was responsible for this change though.
Wrote ideas about evolution in poems and two volume scientific publications - "Zoonomia; or, the Laws of Organic Life". The latter suggests that earth and life on it must have been evolving for "millions of ages before the commencement of the history of mankind". This book has ideas that relate to the theory of evolution, which were later fully developed by his grandson, Charles Darwin.
