jan 3, 1835 - 7,000 soldiers were sent to Georgia to remove the Cherokees by the President Martin Van Buren. In Georgia 1838 The Cherokees refused to leave their land but the Government had to the right to remove them so they removed them. 5,000 Cherokee died
