The British Empire consists of the colonies rules by the United Kingdom. Because of the British Empire and world trade, many foreign words were introduced into the English Language and modern variants or dialects of the English Language came into existence, also known as 'new Englishes'. The English pronunciation and usages froze when the language arrived in America, but they continued to evolve in Britain (this is known and the 'colonial lag').
