The Twin temples: Tlaloc and Huitzilopochtli;
Together symbolizing “burnt water” which implies warfare which is the way Mexica gained power and wealth.
The volcanic stone was founded at the bottom of the stairs because Snake balustrades = snake mountain= Coatepec. Rituals, ceremonies also support the idea of the temple symbolizing Coatepec.
The calendar stone or "The Sun Stone," most likely represents Tonathiuh (Sun God). It depicts the origin of the cosmos: Creation of the 5 eras (suns) 5 era = 4th movement (current time), 20 glyphs - Aztec 20 days, Rays of the sun Outside band - two serpents that meet at the bottom.
The Olmec-style mask shows reverence for the cultures that came before them.
