Description:

In 1630, the Protestant cause in Germany was falling apart, and many Protestant rulers feared that the Catholic emperor would soon control all of their lands.

They sent urgent requests to the Lutheran king of Sweden, Gustavus Adolphus, asking him to come to their aid. That summer, he brought his Swedish army to northern Germany, beginning a major intervention that gave new strength and hope to the Protestant side in the Thirty Years’ War. This is part of the 2nd phase, called Danish Phase.
