Description:
Prior to the Reconstruction of Racial problems, the Civil war to fight over slavery and states rights was won by the North. While the Civil War was ending, the Emancipation proclamation was declared by President Lincoln. In addition, the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendendmt was created to help former Slaves and protect African Americans. During the Reconstruction, the Freedmen's Burea was creted to help formeerly enslaved people transition after the Civil war like; provide aide, establish shcool, and reunite familes. Black Codes were discremntory state laws created to maintain structure of racial slavery. Sharecropping was used to trap fomerly enslaved people and poor whires to rent small plots of land, and to harvest crops to go to landowners as payment. The Compromise of 1877 was created to resolve the 1876 election by making Hayes President to end reconstruction.
