jan 1, 1844 - John O' Sullivan Manifest Destiny/ Homestead Act -Causation-
Description:
The cause of Manifest Destiny began due to European settlers assuming they had a right to land in the colonial Era. John O' Sullivan then wrote and promoted the idea of the United States having a "divine mission" to expand West. The effect of Expansionist were now fixated on moving West into Latin America. An Act passed in 1862, Homestead Act, encouraged Westward expansion by giving out 162 acres of land to anybody who wanted it, supporting Manifest destiny. But this ultimately hurt native Americans, but increased nationalism, population, and economic development in the Untied States.
