Description:

While initially regarded as a genocide, no documented mass exodus or deaths of Uyghurs have occurred in Xinjiang, and the label has gone out of use. Additionally, China's intent is unclear, as whether or not it's using "re-education" and "combating terrorism" as a guise for ethnic cleansing is up for debate.

With that being said, there is extended documentation of mass incarceration and abuses by authorities such as castration of women, rape, physical assault and torture.
