jan 1, 3000 BC - Papyrus
Description:
Papyrus was an abundant natural resource in ancient Egypt and was used to create the earliest forms of paper (Galbraith, 2020). By layering and drying strips of papyrus reeds, an inexpensive writing surface was created. Papyrus was the predominant record-keeping material of ancient Mediterranean societies, and remained in common use until the early medieval period (Sington, 2020).
