Meningitis was infecting 1000-1200 people a year before they found a reliable vaccine. This disease compromises the immune system due to chronic illness. Today the NIHR (National Instiutute for health research) is looking to find 24,000 volenteers ages 16-18 to try the vaccine trial as of April 2018
