the Siege of Cordova (1 ene 1009 año – 1 ene 1013 año)

Descripción:

Cordova was taken by the Berbers led by the Suleyman ibn Hakem. This siege was against the Al-Muhdi. The aftermath of this siege was the defeated of Al-Muhdi and the Cordova was taken by the Berbers. The siege of Cordova happen when the people were against the proclamation of Al-Muhdi or formerly named as Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdil Jaafar. Upon he sit on the throne, he seize as many as he could of the chiefs attached to the party of the A’mirites and put them to death. The chief of Berbers seeing the bad rule of al-Muhdi and made a revolt against him. Due to the chaos that had be made by the Berbers, Al-Muhdi expelled the Berbers tribe from the Cordova and beheaded Hisham and Abu Bakar who were the prince of the race of Umayyah. The Berbers had planned to dethrone Al-Muhdi and proclaim Hisham as the new ruler. The Berber however proclaimed the nephew of Hisham, Suleyman as their Khalif to attack Al-Muhdi. During these three years, the government of Cordova was in turmoil. The siege of Cordova continued with unabated vigour, the people are unable to gain any advantage over this besiege. By the year 1012, Cordova were completely under the control of Berber with Suleymen as their ruler. In my opinion, this siege happen due to biased treatment of Al-Muhdi toward the Berbers.
