30 Years War (Germany) (7 oct 1618 año – 7 oct 1648 año)
Descripción:
Jesuit Ferdinand II, Emperor of the HRE at the time, refused to appoint any protestants to positions in Bohemia (majority protestant).
This war did not stay within the HRE. Other countries used it as an excuse to interfere and take things for themselves; the primary loser here was king Ferdinand II.
Winners:
Sweden, which emerged as a northern power
France, which became Europe's greatest power
The loss of life was extreme, and the amount of people removed from their lands was huge.
Additionally, this war saw significant changes in the composition of militaries: They grew far larger (120,000 - 150, 000) men, got more expensive, and MOST IMPORTANTLY the appearance of uniforms and national symbols appeared.
