Operation Torch (8 nov 1942 año – 10 nov 1942 año)
Descripción:
This was the British U.S invasion of French North Africa. The decision was not easy and split some of the Allies priorities. Stalin was stuck in a two front war with Germany and could not help in the invasion of North Africa. George C. Marshall proposed that they make Germany fight a two front war but the U.S and Britain said that they should go for the "soft underbelly" in French North Africa, and to do so they'd need to take it with overwhelming force. This requires time to build up troops and force to take it, and by majority this is what they did. Operation Torch, headed by Dwight D. Eisenhower landed Allied tanks and troops at points in Morocco and Algeria which continued to fight across North Africa eventually meeting up with Britain's troops in Tunisia, there Rommel's forces surrendered in May of 1943.
