A clinical breast exam is completed by a healthcare provider. They, first, check the breast appearance to notice any abnormalities, such as lumps. They can also ask for me to to raise my arms over my head, let them hang by my sides, or press my hands against my hips. These postures will allow my healthcare provider to look for differences in size or shape between your breasts. The skin covering my breasts is checked for any rash, dimpling, or other abnormal signs. The clinical breast exam is done for the health care provider to possibly detect breast cancer early. That said, this exam must be done every 3 years in this time period of ages 20-30 years.
