September Massacres (9 h 16 m, 2 sept 1792 año – 11 h 45 m, 6 sept 1792 año)
Descripción:
The September Massacres were a series of massacres of the prisoners of Paris. During them, roughly 1300 people (50% of the Parisian prison population) were killed by assassins numbering in the 150s-200s. They began over fears that a great counterrevolutionary revolt would spill forth from French prisons when the men went off to fight the Prussians and as a result, were largely perpetrated against those perceived to be counterrevolutionary or otherwise dangerous. The assassins were sans-culottes and tried victims in a court before killing them and disfiguring the corpses.
