Battle of Fredericksburg (11 dic 1862 año – 15 dic 1862 año)

Descripción:

December 11-15, 1862: The battle that took place on December 13, 1862 had the largest concentration of troops in any battle with nearly 200,000 of them. The commander of the Army of the Potomac, Ambrose Burnside, had ordered his troops to cross the Rappahannock River. There, they made a two-pronged attack on Robert E. Lee's army. The Union had to turn back due to heavy casualties. This battle sent the Union morale crashing and gave the Confederacy new energy which was important to them after Lee's failure to invade the North. This battle truly showed the Union that the Confederates aren't going down without a fight, and the fight would be a big one the couldn't easily win.
