Lewis and Clark Expedition (1 ene 1803 año – 1 ene 1806 año)
Descripción:
Captiain Merriweather Lewis and Lieutenant William Clark were authorized by Jefferson to explore out west, and get a sense of the land that America had just aquired. They were aided by a Shoshone woman, Sacagawea. This was a signficant expedition, and with the recent Louisiana Purchase. Controversy had been stirred up about slavery in the new states, and the promise of more land threatened their work and their movement westward. This exploration also opened up economical prospects of wealthy planters and plantation owners of vast wealth with westward expansion.
