On June 6th, 1944, the allied forces landed on five beaches along a 50 mile stretch of the heavily strengthened coast of France’s Normandy region. This was one of the biggest military assaults in history and required extensive planning. This efent really was a turning point because it started to show how close we were to winning this war.
