20 abr 1871 año - The Ku Klux Klan Act
Descripción:
The Ku Klux Klan was a white supremacist group that emerged during Reconstruction. It took violent steps to undermine the Republican party, hoping to maintain black economic instability and ensure white racial and economic superiority. The KKK Act was Congress's response to this group which made Klan violence and political intimidation illegal under federal law. This was significant because, though it made it very evident racial discrimination still existed, African Americans were reassured that the government still recognized them and their rights. The Ku Klux Klan Act relates to the Civil Rights Act of 1875 because both were responses to discriminatory systems which gave African Americans their rights back, which were taken by the South.
