-After Japan's occupation of Korea in WW2, Korea split into North Korea and South Korea
-Dividing line between the two newly formed nations was at the 38th Parallel of latitude
-Soviets installed Communist government in North Korea & armed them.
-US provided smaller supply to not-communist South Korea
