Mars Pathfinder was the first-ever robotic rover to surface the red planet. It was the first mission in NASA's Discovery program. This rover only took three years to develop, had a relatively low cost, and outlasted its intended life span. It discovered that the planet's surface was a yellowish-brown color due to the high dust levels.
