In July of 1830, Charles X inherited the throne. With his new power, he suspended the legislature, limited the right to vote and limited the press. Liberals and radicals didn't agree with this, so they threw up barricades in the city. Within a couple of days, the rebellion controlled Paris. As a result of the rebellion, the king became scared and fled to England. With the king gone, Louis Philippe took his place and extended his rule to the citizens as well as helping the upper bourgeoisie to prosper.
