The Kansas-Nebraska act allowed people in Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves if they wanted slavery in their territory. This repealed the 36/30 line of Missouri Compromise because Kansas and Nebraska were north of 36/30 line. Their territories could end up voting to have slavery.
